Hi,
I am a daily drinker 180 ml hard liqour at times bingeing up to 360 ml. I also chew tobacco. I was admitted to ER after overdosing on acetominophen due to a hangover. I had epigastric distress and passed black stool. Stool test later did not show any blood in the stool. I have a history of splenectomy during my childhood. My CBC was within normal limits with a platelet count of 380,000. Ultrasound of my liver was normal echotexture and size with no abnormlaities. Earlier scans showed fatty liver infiltrates. My sugars are normal and I am not a diabetic. In ER these were my lab values:
Bio chemistry
Bilirubin 0.5 (Normal range 0.2 - 1.0)
Enzymes
SGOT AST 57 (normal range <40)
SGPT ALT 116 (normal range <41)
Alk Phos 70 (normal range 36 - 141)
GGT 118 (normal range <55)
Protiens
Total Protien 7.5 (normal range 6.6 - 8.8)
Albumin 3.9 (normal range 3.5 - 5.0)
Globulin 3.6 (normal range 2.3 - 3.5)
A/G ratio 1.1 electophoresis
I was discharged about 6 days back. I have abstained from tobacco and alcohol and excersice 1 hour daily by walking and do weights for 30 minutes. My PCP has prescribed some essential phospholipids, a PPI (ranitidine) and an ayurvedic supplement for the liver Hepatogarde. I am 33 years old. He has asked me to repeat my LFTs in 3 weeks. How soon can I get back to normal values in my LFT? Please help.
