Your Question
About 35 days ago, I woke up with a sore throat. By the end of my workday, my voice was hoarse, breathy and basically un-recognizable. This persisted for a few days before I went to the clinic where I was told I had laryngitis (sore throat, swollen glands, fever) and to take the following day off work, rest, and drink lots and to take tylenol/advil for pain/swelling. I had shown no signs of improvement the following week when I went to see my family doctor who prescribed anti-biotics and a mouthwash-like anti-inflammatory. He also did a throat swab and told me to take the remainder of the week off work. It has now been 5 weeks and I am waiting for an appointment with an ENT specialist. I have a hoarse voice and I get short of breath when I speak, my throat is in constant pain and feels very hot. My ears have an odd tickle in them when I swallow and I am very fatiqued. I also gag when swallowing soft foods/liquids This has been so long - what\'s wrong w me and how can they fix it?
