Your Question
I am a patient of schizophrenia since last 20 years. Currently I am taking Haloperidol (brand - serenace) as the main medicine. I have a unique problem which is not getting diagnosed/ treated.
1. I get "BLACK DARK SPOTS" in front of both the eyes. This is in everything thing I see and impairs my vision. (PROMINENCE OF BLACK OBJECTS ACCOMPAINED BY ANXIETY) It is also reflected in my facial appearance as I am extremely fearful of these "DARK SPOTS" all the time.
Continuous to and fro movement of eyeballs.
2. It lasts about 2-4 hours in the evening only. Typically it is 2-3 times a week
3. This is since last 10-12 years. Initially the frequency was less but now it 2-3 times a week
4. It is traumatic and I feel great discomfort (8 out of 10)
5. It happens irrespective of any particular thing
6. No pain only discomfort
7. Resting with eyes closed with hand for 1 hour give some relief. I have also observed that if I watch TV it is less.
Also, taking CLONAZEPAM (Brand Rivotril 0.5-1mg) help in giving relief by shortening the period of these "DARK SPOTS IN FRONT OF EYES"
I am myself a doctor and have consulted many doctors (neurologist, ophthalmologist and psychiatrist) but unfortunately no one is able to diagnose this problem. I am confused about nature of disease - where it is psychological or is a side effect of any medicine like haloperidol I am taking
Taking rivotril helps partially reducing the problem.
Please advise and help
