Your Question
For two months baby h has been developing well. DRs. say he has NAIT do to incompatibility of parents. There are antibodies that are eating up his platelets. His platelet level keeps dropping after transfusions. His lowest count was 6,000 (shortly after birth). There are no other symptoms. When he is pricked to get blood he clots well. There is no burst blood vessels or black and blue marks. He has had six transfusions of platelets, which were washed from antibodies and compressed. Drs. are used to this condition healing itself after around four to six weeks. They are a little bewildered why it is taking so long for the antibodies to leave the system. They are wondering how low they can let it go on it\'s own with out a transfusion. They are guessing it would stabilize at around 10 to 14 thousand. But they are afraid to let it go on it\'s own. If you have experience with this and have any suggestions we would greatly appreciate it.
